Floor Coating for Golf Cart Garages and Cart Bays
Updated October 2026 · Clean Floor Coatings, Little River, SC
Quick answer
On the Grand Strand a lot of garages are as much a golf cart bay as a car garage, and that floor takes wet tires, sand, charger cords and battery drips every day. Clean Floor Coatings coats golf cart garages with the same system as any garage: diamond grinding, a moisture vapor barrier epoxy base, flake and a polyaspartic top coat, with Shark Bite non skid on request where carts come in wet. Spills and sand wipe or hose off instead of soaking into bare concrete.

What a cart bay goes through
- Battery drips. Lead acid cart batteries can leak or overflow when charging, and the acid eats into bare concrete.
- Wet tires. Carts come back from the beach, the pool and a rainy round with water on the tires.
- Sand. It rides in on tires, floor mats and beach gear, and it grinds at any soft floor finish.
- Tight turns. Carts pivot in small spaces, and on a weak coating that scuffs and lifts at the turning spot.
- The charging corner. Cords, a charger on the wall and the occasional dropped tool, all in one spot.
Battery acid and concrete
Concrete is alkaline, so battery acid reacts with it. On a bare slab it leaves pale, rough spots that grow every time the battery drips. A coated floor puts a sealed surface between the acid and the concrete, so a spill can be wiped up and rinsed.
Wipe acid up soon rather than letting it sit, and a drip tray under the charging spot is a good habit on any floor. Carts with lithium batteries do not drip acid at all, but their tires and sand still do the same work on the floor.
Cart garages come in a few shapes
All of them get the same system. Phil looks at the space, the step into the house and where water runs at the estimate.
- A cart bay beside the cars in a standard two or three car garage.
- A separate single door golf cart garage built onto the house, common in golf communities.
- Ground level parking under a raised home near the water, which sees more rain and damp than most. More in garage floor coating in North Myrtle Beach.
Grip where carts come in wet
Flake gives a coated floor light texture on its own. For a cart bay, where tires and feet come in wet, Shark Bite non skid mixed into the top coat adds real grip. Ask for it at the estimate.

Frequently asked questions
Is a cart bay coated differently from the car side?
No. It gets the same grinding, moisture vapor barrier base, flake and polyaspartic top coat. Non skid is the one thing worth adding where carts come in wet.
Will battery acid damage the coating?
A sealed, coated floor stands up to an occasional spill far better than bare concrete, which acid eats into. Wipe spills up soon and rinse the spot.
Will the cart tires mark the floor?
Cart tires are light and run cool compared to car tires. Hot car tires are the bigger test for a coating. See hot tire pickup.
How soon can I park the cart again?
Phil gives you the time before you can drive on the floor at the estimate. It depends on the weather on install day.
