Patio and Porch Coating in Myrtle Beach

Updated October 2026 · Clean Floor Coatings, Little River, SC

Quick answer

A flake coating with a polyaspartic top coat turns a stained, worn concrete patio, porch or entryway into a clean, finished surface built for coastal sun and rain. Clean Floor Coatings preps the concrete, lays down a base coat and color flake and finishes it with a polyaspartic top coat that will not yellow, with Shark Bite non skid on request for areas that get wet. Phil confirms at the estimate exactly what your surface needs.

Why outdoor concrete is harder than a garage

A patio or porch gets everything a garage does not: direct sun all day, rain blowing in, wet feet, pollen, leaves and sand. Concrete outside also sits right on the ground, so it soaks up moisture after every storm and pushes it back out when the sun hits it. A coating that is fine in a closed garage can chalk, yellow or lift out here.

That is why the top coat on any outdoor surface has to be UV stable, and why the base coat matters even more. See why coatings peel near the coast.

What we coat

  • Back patios and slab porches.
  • Screened porches, where the floor gets sun through the screen and rain blowing in.
  • Front entryways, steps and walkways.
  • Pool decks, covered on their own page: pool deck coating.

Choosing a color for outdoor concrete

Lighter flake blends stay noticeably cooler underfoot in full sun than dark ones, and they hide pollen and sand better. For a porch or entryway that is seen from the street, many homeowners pick a blend that ties into the house trim or the roof. More in how to choose a flake color.

Painted or coated already?

A lot of patios and porches already have deck paint, a sealer or an old coating on them. A new system cannot go over a layer that is peeling, so a failing finish has to come off first. Phil checks what is on the surface at the estimate, tells you what has to come off, and the price he gives covers it.

Frequently asked questions

Will a coated patio be slippery when it rains?

Any outdoor surface can be slick when it is wet. Flake adds light texture, and Shark Bite non skid can be mixed into the top coat for more grip. Ask for it on any area that gets wet, and still take care on wet steps.

Can you coat over pavers?

A flake coating needs one solid concrete slab. Pavers move independently, so they are a poor base for a continuous coating. Ask Phil about your surface at the estimate.

Can you coat front steps and a walkway?

Yes. Entryways, steps and walkways can be coated along with a patio, and Phil can price them at the same estimate.
